Laois Pride Writing Competition 2025
This year marks the second year of our writing competition in honor of Joe Drennan, a writer and journalist of many talents and a voice of the community. This year's theme is The Most Impactful Relationship in My Life.
Entrants are required to produce a piece of writing, either an essay or short story of no more than 1,000 words or poem of no more than 14 lines. The deadline for submissions has been extended to Monday September 1st. Send your piece along with your contact details (so we can let you know if you win!) to community@laoispride.com or by post to Youth Work Ireland Laois, JFL House, unit D, James Fintan Lalor Avenue, Portlaoise marked ‘Laois Pride Writing Competition’.
The winner will be selected by a panel of judges, and will be presented an award at the Laois Pride Community Day on September 13th at the Portlaoise School of Music, along with having your piece published in the Laois Nationalist.
